Jim West meets James H "Pee Wee" Martin!

photo by Chris Stewart - Dayton Daily News

66 years ago, at the age of 4, Jim West, the owner of Skydive Greene County saw a photo of the D-Day jump into Normandy. Jim decided that very day that he wanted to grow up to be a paratrooper.  Jim would become a jumpmaster with the 101st Airborne before founding Skydive Greene County in 1961. Skydiving has been both his life-long dream and his occupation.

On Sunday (7-11-2010), a soldier by the name of Jim Martin of Xenia made his first tandem skydive with us. Mr. Martin is a World War II veteran and proud member of the 101st Airborne. He jumped into Normandy on D-Day. On Sunday, Jim West met Mr. Martin before he piloted the plane from which Mr. Martin made his tandem skydive.

Jim West thanked him for his loyal service to our country and shared his story of being inspired by the D-Day photo of Mr. Martin and the other paratroopers.

Congratulations to Mr. Martin for making your skydive with us, your service to our country and for being such an inspiration to all that meet you.
